The inaugural Darkness Into Light event in Dundalk earlier this year raised a record breaking sum of more than €60,000, it has been revealed.

The event in May raised a massive €60,702 which is a record amount for a first time venue.

The organisers of Darkness Into Light Dundalk yesterday passed on the proceeds from the event to Pieta House.

Over 2,400 took part in the local event at Dundalk IT. The 5k walk/run takes place at numerous locations around the country and is the main fundraiser for suicide prevention group Pieta House, who aim to have a centre with 100km of everyone in the coming years.
