Residents in Bay Estate hit out at ongoing dumping behind local shops
Residents in the Bay Estate area have hit out at the ongoing practice of illegal dumping in the estate.
In recent months items of rubbish have regularly been disposed of behind the shops opposite to Cypress Gardens.
As well as being unsightly, there are fears that the problem could lead to a rat infestation in an area where there is both a chip shop and deli in the local Centra store. Its close proximity to both the local school and areas where children play have also sparked health concerns.
One resident, who contacted Talk of the Town said: “This is an ongoing problem but there is never a litter warden in the area. There is CCTV in other areas of the town and county and if this continues we may need this here too.”
The picture above, as captured by Darren Watters, shows one of the most recent collection of household waste that was dumped in Bay Estate.
