Slight fall in Dundalk house prices in August
The average price of a house in Dundalk fell by 0.8% in August.
The latest Residential Property Price Index from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) shows that the average house price in the town for the year to August now stands at €181,815.
This is down on the average price of €183,371 recorded in July, when prices were up 2.6% from June.
Despite the slight fall in August, when sales are traditionally slower, prices remain up 10.8% from April when the average price stood at €164,026.
The CSO report that there were 609 sales in the town in the year to August.
In Co Louth as a whole the average price was down 0.1% in the year to August to an average of €184,258 from €184,440 in July.
Meanwhile, despite the fall in prices in Dundalk the average house price in Drogheda continued to rise. It was up 0.8% in the year to August to €209,502 from €207,824 the previous month.
The median price in Dundalk also fell by €1,500 in August to €165,000 while in Drogheda it was up to €197,000 from €195,000. The median price for Co Louth remained static at €167,000.
