St Nicholas’ Avenue Residents’ Association hit out at “scumbag” who stole plants from estate
A local residents’ association has hit out at those responsible for stealing plants from flower beds it planted in the estate just a week ago.
The St Nicholas’ Avenue Residents’ Association planted flowers last week at Maxwell’s Row and the entrance to Boyle O’Reilly Terrace in an effort to spruce up the area heading into the summer months.
However, a number of plants have since been stolen with this the latest occurrence after similar incidents in recent years.
Taking to Facebook to highlight the matter yesterday, the association described the person responsible as a “scumbag” and “lowlife bollox”.
Local residents pay for the plants out of their monthly contributions and the association had asked that the person who steals plants each year to refrain from doing so once again this year.
Local councillor Maeve Yore has encouraged anyone with information on the culprit to “name and shame” them, describing it as a “despicable act.”
UPDATE: Niall Kehoe of Dixon’s Funeral Home has made a “considerable” donation to the residents’ association to help their ongoing work in the area and replace the flowers.
