So another year is just about over.
While 2016 will be remembered by many for celebrity deaths, it has also been a busy one on the news front locally.
Talk of the Town has been there to bring you the news as it happens each step of the way.
As the year winds to a close we decided to look at the stories which were the most read this year.

1 Information sought on woman missing from Dundalk since Sunday morning
Our most read story this year came in October when Aleksandra Posiewka went missing. Thankfully she was found a few days later.
2 Pornhub release details of Louth visitors’ habits on its site
Our second biggest story of the year came in August and was a little naughty as one of the biggest internet porn sites revealed that ‘Lesbians’ was the term people in Louth searched for the most.
3 Dundalk man who died in Vietnam is son of well known local businessman
Our third biggest story of the year came at the end of January when Evan McArdle, son of local businessman Jock McArdle and his wife Susan, passed away suddenly in Vietnam.
4 Man killed after being struck by train outside Dundalk
Our fourth most read article of 2016 also came in January and again had a tragic element as a man was struck on the railway line near O’Hanlon Park by the Enterprise train.
5 Man’s body discovered in car park of Long Walk Shopping Centre
Another tragic article, this time from November, as a man’s remains were found in the car park of the Long Walk Shopping Centre.
6 Body of man found in Blackrock
Yet another sad tale to report as a man’s body was discovered at Birch’s Lane in Blackrock, close to Dundalk Golf Club in the early hours of an April morning.
7 Search operation underway on the Castletown river / Quay area
Our seventh most read story of the year related to a major search operation that took place following reports that a person had been sighted in the water of the Castletown River in March. Thankfully it proved to be a false alarm.
8 Lucky escape for four young girls on Blackrock beach
A story with a silver lining emerged in May when four young girls were rescued by the Coastguard after getting into difficulty at Blackrock.
9 Local publican Betty Traynor passes away
Dundalk and the area in general lost a lot of popular people this year but our ninth most read story was on Christmas Day when news emerged that Betty Traynor from The Phoenix Bar had died.
10 Serious concerns for welfare of missing Dundalk teenager
Another missing person story makes up our top ten. This one related to Nikoletta Matonosi who went missing from her home in Saltown in December. Thankfully she was found safe and well afterwards.
