Gardaí are investigating break-ins to two local business premises.

At around 8.30pm last night a man entered the Mace store at the Maxol filling station on the Castletown Road before making off with a sum of money after threatening staff with a knife.

Thankfully no one was injured in the incident but anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have witnessed anything is asked to contact Dundalk Garda Station on 042 9335577.

A substantial amount of cigarettes were also stolen during a break-in to the Mace shop in Omeath in the early hours of Monday morning.

Three men broke into the store after taking a sledgehammer to a window before escaping in a dark coloured car.

Anyone with information on this theft is asked to contact Omeath Garda Station on 042 9375175.
