Warner Chilcott to be bought for $8.5 billion
Dundalk-based pharmaceutical giant Warner Chilcott is set to be bought by Actavis in an all-stock transaction valued at about $8.5 billion.
The deal would create the third biggest speciality pharmaceutical company in the US.
The new company is expected to be called Actavis PLC and will be incorporated in Ireland, where Warner Chilcott is incorporated. Warner Chilcott currently has its headquarters at the Xerox Technology Park in Dundalk, having also been based in Ardee in recent years.
Warner Chilcott announced their move to Dundalk in February 2010, when they pledged to create 200 high-skilled jobs in the area – many of which have already been created.
