Gardaí in Dundalk are appealing for witnesses following a break-in to a house in the Tom Bellew Avenue area of the town on Sunday evening.

The incident occurred when four men forced their way into a house at Greenfield Court between 7.30pm and 7.45pm.

One of the occupants was assaulted during the course of the aggravated burglary with a small amount of cash taken.

According to LMFM news, it is understood one of the gang was carrying a screwdriver.

The gang are believed to have fled the scene in a small black or dark coloured car.

Anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have witnessed anything suspicious is asked to contact Dundalk Garda Station on 042 9335577.
