There was yet another fire at the Ard Dealgan apartments in Quay Street yesterday evening.
Dundalk Fire Service were called to the scene around 6.30pm and spent around 90 minutes battling the blaze, which destroyed one apartment.
This is one of a number of fires to have taken place at the abandoned apartments in recent years and the third this year following similar fires in February and April.
Built by Priory Hall developer Tom McFeely, 79 apartments in the complex were evacuated in 2009 due to fire safety concerns.
Since then the complex has become a nuisance for local residents, who claim it attracts anti-social behaviour and drugs activity.
Last year a series of pickets were organised at the apartments with local TD Gerry Adams describing it as a “blight” on the local community.
Sinn Féin have in the past called upon Louth County Council to take over the apartments but it is understood finances are an issue in doing so.
